I really like the diving style watch with such a strong and tough appearance. Big watch has always been my favorite, especially the diver’s watch. So Panerai and Rolex are my two most favored Swiss brands. However, when I chose watches for my clients in our market, I saw this Oris watch, it attracted me deeply, the big-size case and stricking orange color on dial. It is just a perfect timepiece for people who are diving fans. Like most other brands, this Oris watch features a rotating bezel and black rubber strap, but the biggest difference between it and others lies in its dial, there is a week display on the centre. The watch is a limited edition from Oris, named Aquis Great Barrier Reef, I do not know the source of its name, I am considering to buy one for my personal wearing, the rubber band will make the watch fit my wrist perfectly.
First, the watch is produced by AN factory, case is measured to be 45mm in diameter, 16mm in thickness. The case is made of 316L stainless steel, brushed. While the metal part that connects rubber band to case is polished. Uni-directional rotating bezel has an orange triangle at 12 o’clock, all diving markers on bezel are white. On the centre of the case back, there is a map of Australia, other engravings tell you the name of this Oris watch. Screw-down case back and the gasket on the groove guarantee a good water resistance of this watch.
The dial is black, silver hour markers feature white luminescence like hour and minute hands. Orange second hand is eye-catching, while the orange minute markers are very convenient for you to read the time in dark place. On the centre of the dial, there is a disc below the dial showing current day from SUN to MON. The date window in square positioned at 6 o’clock has a dark brown date font. In a word, the dial is very easy for you to read the time. It is great for the diver to tell current time under water.
Some people have already asked me whether it could be equipped with a Swiss ETA movement when I posted this watch review on my blog, I must say yes, this Oris Aquis Great Barrier Reef replica could be equipped with a Swiss ETA 2836-2 movement, but the price will be $108 usd higher. By the way, the Day Wheel could be adjusted through crown just like adjusting the time.
